3m MPro120 Micro Projector So micro projectors aren’t just fancy toys for gadget freaks after all. In its 3M MPro120 micro projector review, the Financial Times has decided that the devices are more than a bit of fun – just. In a decent and reasonably in-depth review, the FT says that they’ve moved on from being just a good idea to devices that can have a practical application, even for business.

Says reviewer Paul Taylor:

They seemed the classic case of a technology looking for a market – gimmicky playthings that would fail to justify their typical $350 price-tags (£250 in the UK). But 18 months is a long time in personal technology and the latest machines are much improved than the original products – such as Optima’s Pico PK102 and the device that I have been testing, 3M’s Pocket Projector MPro120.

But having had a 3M MPro120 Micro Projector to play with for a few weeks, Paul is something of a convert.

After using the MPro120 for several weeks, I am generally pleased with its performance. Some rival devices, particularly those aimed mainly at consumers, rely exclusively on memory cards for playing video files or displaying still images. The MPro120, however, is definitely for business users as well as consumers and has been designed to be connected to a wide range of devices such as laptops, netbooks, smart-phones – including the iPhone – digital cameras and portable games consoles.

Go forth and buy your 3M MPro120 Micro Projector – you have the blessing of the Financial Times.
